Six Teachers

The people who hold the room.

All six of our teachers have at least seven years of practice and three years of teaching. Most have been with us since the studio opened in 2018.

·

Eli Tanaka

Lead instructor · Vinyasa & Breathwork

Practicing 18 years, teaching 12. Studied with Sarah Powers and Rod Stryker. Quiet, exact, deeply technical without ever sounding it.

M

Marisol Reyes

Beginners & Restorative

500-hr E-RYT certified. Twelve years teaching. The first person we send anyone who's nervous about their first class. Famously kind.

A

Aya Okumura

Yin & Slow Flow

Studied yin with Bernie Clark and Sarah Powers. Twelve years of practice, six teaching. Will keep you in pigeon longer than you wanted to be there, and you'll thank her.

T

Tom Bridger

Vinyasa & Athletic Practice

Former competitive swimmer. Teaches the strongest physical class in the schedule. Modifies for everyone — there's no "advanced row" in his class.

R

Reza Vafaei

Sound Bath & Meditation

Sound healer trained in Bali. Brings a real collection of crystal bowls, gongs, and tuning forks. Often booked for the new-moon sound baths.

L

Leah Calderón

Pre/Postnatal & Family Yoga

RYT-200 + Pre/Postnatal certified. Mother of three. Teaches our weekly family yoga class for parents and kids 4–12.

Lineage

Where the practice comes from.

We teach from the Krishnamacharya/Iyengar/yin tradition mostly, with some Tibetan-influenced restorative work and breathwork drawn from the Vivekananda tradition. We're not a single-style studio.

That means our classes will feel different from teacher to teacher — by design. You'll find the one that fits you within two or three drop-ins.

Continuing Education

Our teachers are still learning.

  1. Each teacher gets $1,200/year toward their own continuing education — workshops, retreats, certifications.
  2. We close the studio for one week each year so the team can attend Yoga Service Alliance teacher week together.
  3. Monthly internal workshops with rotating focus — anatomy, sequencing, scripture, business of teaching.
  4. We pay teachers for class prep, not just on-mat time. Most studios don't.
From a Teacher

"In six years of teaching here I've taken every certification I wanted, taught every class I wanted to teach, and never had a difficult conversation about pay. That's why I stayed."

— Aya Okumura, Yin & Slow Flow
