A small practice, by hand.
Pinewood Studio is one person, one small space above a coffee shop, and a slow shooting schedule. I shoot mostly on film, mostly in available light, and mostly in the last forty-five minutes of the day.

I learned to develop film in my mother's kitchen sink in Astoria, Oregon, when I was thirteen, and I haven't really stopped since. I trained at the school of repeating an exposure five times until I got it right, then took two years at Brooks for the technical part.
I spent six years assisting in commercial studios in Portland and Vancouver before opening Pinewood in 2017. The studio takes its name from the quiet stretch of pine and Douglas-fir north of Seaside that I grew up walking through.
I'm represented for editorial and commercial work by Coastline Agency in Portland. Personal work, portraits, and weddings come directly through this site.
A small process, kept on time.
You write me
Tell me what you have in mind. I'll write you back within a few days, even if I'm fully booked. We'll find a date or I'll send you to a friend.
We make a day of it
I show up early, drink your coffee, and we work through it slowly. I'd rather make twelve real photographs than two hundred forgettable ones.
The film comes home
Six weeks for full edits. A proof book in eight. Final prints when you ask for them. I keep negatives indexed, archived, and accessible to you for life.

For people who want to know. Most of the bodies are older than I am; the lenses are older still.
