The team

Four stylists. All senior.

Editorial backgrounds, an average of eleven years on the floor, and the kind of considered approach we built the salon around.

Lina M.

Founder · Color Specialist

Fourteen years editorial work, formerly at Cut. New York and Saló in Mexico City. Founded Wave in 2019. Books eight weeks out for color correction; four weeks for routine color.

— "I'd rather book two color clients a day, properly, than five."

August K.

Senior Stylist · Editorial & Bridal

Editorial pages with Vogue, Elle, and four years assisting at NYFW. Bridal is his quiet superpower — he travels for weddings within 25 miles.

— "Bridal is fundamentally about disappearing. The hair shouldn't compete with the face."

Reyna O.

Senior Stylist · Cut Specialist

Cuts dry, finishes wet. Old-school precise. Trained at Vidal Sassoon Academy and worked the floor in three different cities before settling here.

— "Most cuts are over-cut. Less is almost always better."

Jules P.

Stylist · Color & Cut

Joined us in 2023 from a senior position at a Boston salon. Specialty: lived-in blonde, soft balayage, and people who say "I want change but I don't know what."

— "Half my job is figuring out what someone actually wants."

Continuing education

We keep learning.

Every stylist gets ten paid education days a year. We close the salon every January for a team education week and bring in a guest educator. Recent visitors: Tabatha Coffey, Robert Lobetta, and a Sassoon master cutter.

It's the reason we can charge what we charge. Hair is a profession that rewards continuing study; we treat it that way.

Hiring occasionally.

We hire one stylist a year, sometimes none. If you've been in the industry five+ years and want to work somewhere that respects the craft, send a letter — never a resume.
